Toyota announced that it will launch 2 new models of hybrid cars following the success of the Prius.  The Toyota IQ Microcar will be launched in showrooms later this year.  The IQ will have a body that is only 10 feet long, with a seating capacity of 4.

Toyota will subsequently launch the hybrid version of the Lexus which is not expected to be another iteration of the Prius.  It will be a totally new car.  It will likely have a Lithium-ion pack by 2010.  Lithium-ion pack?  Wow, I thought I just crossed into a wrong article in the tech pages and jumped into the mobile phone pages instead.  I hope the new Lexus will have extended standby time and longer talk time.  Just kidding.  Me, the gadget geek, takes its hat off to the geniuses of the 21st century.  Maybe my first car will run on garbage and have a maximum altitude of 50 feet.
